" CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a ball python slithered out of a toilet and bit a South Florida man on the arm. Coral Springs police spokesman Chris Swinson said the man was treated at the scene after the 4-foot (1.2-meter) snake bit him when he lifted the toilet seat on Sunday morning. The snake is nonvenomous. Swinson told news outlets the snake didn't belong to the man and it was unclear how it got into the apartment. The South Florida SunSentinel reports the Coral Springs Humane Society took the snake to a veterinarian's office. It was being treated for a scale infection. Over the years other creatures have found their way into toilets in South Florida, including an iguana freed by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue in March." Source

The 22-year-old Floridian was arrested for allegedly pelting  his mother with sausages inside the  kitchen of their Bradenton residence. Cops charge that Callijas-Gasperin battered his 41-year-old mother after asking her to make him some food around 8 PM Monday. The victim agreed to prepare a meal, but asked her son “to give her a few minutes due to being busy.” The unemployed Callijas-Gasperin became angry when asked to wait, according to a probable cause statement. Callijas-Gasperin “threw the remaining sausages” at his mother, with one sausage striking her in the right eye. He also allegedly pushed the victim backwards and placed his hands around her neck (but did not restrict her breathing). During police questioning, Callijas-Gasperin claimed that his mother walked up and “bumped” him while he was eating in the kitchen. “The defendant stated that he got mad, so he threw the remaining sausages at her.” Callijas-Gasperin contended that he had done nothing wrong, a...

" A motorist on Thursday spotted the error, realizing that workers in Doral had made a mistake when painting the word “school” at a pedestrian crossing in the road. Instead of S-C-H-O-O-L, it was spelled S-C-O-H-O-L. The city tweeted that the private contractor has now corrected its work. "It's not a good thing when you misspell school. It's not a good look. Miami-Dade prosecutors have charged an  Aventura  man with DUI manslaughter after concluding he was high on nitrous oxide, also known as “whippets,” when he ran over a family on a sidewalk, killing a real-estate lawyer. Joseph Franco, 27, was jailed Wednesday afternoon, accused of killing Amir Pelleg in July 2018 and injuring his wife and two young daughters. Pelleg, 34, was an attorney with Kayne Anderson Real Estate, and an active member of the Beth Torah Synagogue. Investigators believe Franco inhaled nitrous oxide shortly before veering his Honda Odyssey off Collins Avenue near 174th Street. After hitting the family, witnesses told police, Franco got out of the car while seeming like he was talking to someone on his phone, then dumped a duffel bag in a nearby garbage can. Source

"It’s tough being a cop in the Sunshine State. They have to face down crazies with guns, crazies behind the wheel — and naked women “air drying” out in the open after a shower at a rest stop. So far, maybe not so difficult. At least not until the women try to run over a trooper, start wielding a metal bat, take off in their car and have to be tasered,  WTSP.com reports. The trouble began Wednesday morning at a rest stop on northbound I-75 in Pasco County. “There’s three women standing in the nude putting on suntan lotion,” one of the troopers is heard saying in dispatch call audio.but the officers didn’t have time to get the naked truth about what was going on. The women ran to their Nissan Sentra and drove away at speed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The trooper began to chase the Nissan, but backed off for safety reasons.
